Schiltz wins seat on 7th District Judicial Nominating Commission

Lane & Waterman Attorney Mikkie Schiltz was elected to the 7th District Judicial Nominating Commission.

The commission is comprised of five attorneys (voted by attorneys in the judicial district) and five governor-appointed individuals, and led by a judge from the 7th Judicial District.  When there is an opening for a Judge in the 7th Judicial District, the commission interviews applicants for 7th Judicial District judge positions and selects the nominees for appointment by the governor.  The 7th Judicial District is comprised of Scott, Muscatine, Cedar, Jackson, and Clinton counties.

Mikkie joined Lane & Waterman in 2001 and focuses primarily on litigation, education, and employment law. She counsels clients on matters related to employment and education issues (including discrimination, harassment, and contractual obligations) and frequently speaks on the topic of discrimination and harassment. Mikkie is recognized by Chambers USA in America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and has a Martindale rating. In 2016, she was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mikkie received her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of West Florida and her J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law. Mikkie resides in Bettendorf with her husband and three children.
