Summer Associates
Experience is the foundation of the summer associate program at Lane & Waterman. The firm hires law students in their first and second years of school as summer associates. Lane & Waterman's summer associate program is the major hiring source for future Lane & Waterman associates.A recruiting committee of partners and associates directs the summer program to ensure that summer associates receive practical feedback and participate in practice areas that will most challenge and develop their skills.
Summer associates are assigned challenging real-world briefs and client research requests, becoming involved in every aspect of our practice. They contribute to client meetings, depositions, court appearances, arbitration and mediation sessions. Direct participation helps each summer associate become familiar with the culture of Lane & Waterman, and likewise allows Lane & Waterman partners and associates to recognize the special qualities of each summer associate.
Each summer associate is assigned a mentor who monitors each associate's progress, acts as an advisor and provides ongoing informal and formal training. Lane & Waterman offers summer associates numerous and varied social events to introduce them to members of the firm.
