The Quad Cities
Davenport and Rock Island are part of a larger metropolitan area commonly referred to as the “Quad Cities”, with a population of more than 350,000. Because of its size, the Quad Cities offers many of the amenities of larger cities with a much more reasonable cost of living. The cultural attractions are varied, and include professional sports teams as well as numerous art festivals, outdoor theater, museums and an IMAX theater. During the summer there are many outdoor festivals including the renowned Mississippi Blues Festival and Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival. The Quad City Air Show and Taste of the Quad Cities are popular, too.The Mark of the Quad Cities in Moline, Illinois, seats up to 6,000 who come to see the finest performers in the world. Its stage has featured Nine Inch Nails, the Eagles, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Elton John, Martina McBride, Josh Groban, Duran Duran, the Moody Blues, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Mannheim Steamroller, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Bette Midler, Britney Spears, Liza Minnelli and Neil Diamond. There are many recreational opportunities as well. Golf Digest rated the Quad Cities #1 for cities its size for its 18-hole public courses. The new TPC course at Deere Run is the site of the John Deere Classic, a PGA tour event. There are almost 100 miles of bike trails, many of which run next to the beautiful Mississippi River. The river not only offers boating and fishing but also some of the most gorgeous sunsets you ever will see.
